Early pregnancy insulin resistance and subsequent gestational diabetes mellitus.

چکیده
G estational diabetes mellitus (GDM), which complicates 3–7% of all pregnancies, is associated with increased maternal and fetal morbidity (1). Identification of early risk markers may result in improved understanding of disease pathogenesis and identification of potential targets for intervention. We sought to determine the association between early pregnancy insulin resistance and subsequent abnormal glucose tolerance in pregnancy.

Investigating the Relationship between hs-CRP Serum Level and Insulin Resistance (HOMA IR) Six Weeks after Childbirth in Patients with Gestational Diabetes Mellitus
Background: Some patients with GDM (Gestational Diabetes Mellitus) still experience impaired glucose tolerance after childbirth and will be affected by diabetes mellitus type 2. Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between hs-CRP serum levels with insulin resistance six weeks after childbirth in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus type 2. Methods: I...

Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus is a common metabolic disorder in pregnancy. Low levels of sex hormone–binding globulin level (SHBG) is associated with increased insulin resistance and hyperinsulinemia. The aim of this study was comparison of SHBG levels between gestational diabetic pregnant women and normal ones. Methods: Serum SHBG concentration were measured in 38 women with gest...
متن کاملTumor necrosis factor- α, adiponectin and their ratio in gestational diabetes mellitus
Background: It has been suggested that inflammation might be implicated in the gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) complications, including insulin resistance. The aims of the current study were to explore maternal circulating values of TNF-α, adiponectin and the adiponectin/TNF-α ratio in women with GDM compared with normal pregnancy and their relationships with metabolic syndrome ...
متن کاملCellular mechanisms for insulin resistance in normal pregnancy and gestational diabetes.
The incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) has doubled over the last 6–8 years and is paralleling the obesity epidemic. GDM carries longterm implications for the subsequent development of type 2 diabetes in the mother and increased risk for obesity and glucose intolerance in the offspring. Insulin resistance exists before pregnancy in women with a history of GDM but worsens during ges...
متن کاملComparative Review on Carbohydrate Metabolism in Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and Normal Gestational Female
Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) incidence is rising in developing countries. It is associated with varied fetal and maternal morbidities. Normal pregnancy is also associated with insulin resistance in later half of pregnancy, which along with other pathogenic mechanism like decreased β cell response is associated with GDM. Glucose tolerance test is used to diagnose GDM but there is controve...
